Web/UX Projects

Vortecx Industries

This was one of my first web design projects before I knew I wanted to be a UX Designer. I recieved this project from a friend who wanted me to redesign his old website to help him attract more customers and display his products and services in a more user friendly way.

My Process

Gather Information/Define Purpose

My client told me that he wanted his old website redesigned so that it looked more appealing. He said this site was just an information site. He wanted the site to have a home page, about page, products page, and contacts page. The purpose of this site was to inform users of my clients company and products he offers.

User Personas

The users for this site would include anyone in the flying industry that uses glider planes. The average age of my users would be those around their mid to late 30’s (based off of my own guess). I didn’t include user personas as I didn’t really understand them at the time of this project.

Research/Analyze/Brainstorm

For this project I looked up different websites to get an idea of the layout I wanted for this site. I also researched fonts and colors that would look good for the site. Because they didn’t have much of a logo I took the initiative to create one for them to help with the appeal of not only their site but their company in general. The design of this logo also took some of my research time as I took a look at the company's existing site to better understand what it is they do. Because their focus is on making winglets for small glider planes I used this to aid me in both the design of the site and the logo.

Wireframing and Prototyping

I started off on paper designing a wireframe for each page on the site. I did this for mobile, tablet, and desktop so that the design would be responsive. With this being one of my first UX projects, I forgot to keep the drawings because I didn't think I would need them after I had my prototype done... I sure learned better on that. Next, I took those wireframes and using Figma, created a prototype with some user interaction to get a feel for how the site is navigated. As this site is still in progress waiting on the client for some of the material he wanted to include, I haven’t yet finished the complete prototype.
