Web/UX Projects

Myrtle Beach Golf

This was a project to fill a requirement in my web portfolio class. I decided to browse 99design.com to find a contest designing a webpage. I found one redesigning myrtlebeachgolf.com’s homepage. This project was based off of a 99design contest that had already expired. Therefore, I never actually submitted my project in the contest.

My Process

Gather Information/Define Purpose

The company hosting the contest gave a generic layout and said the style and look of the page is completely up to us. The rough layout they were looking for was an area for promotions, thumbnails, text, booking, specials, course grid, and a footer. They also mentioned they like blues and greens.

User Personas

I determined that my users for this site would be mostly teenagers to adults, both male and female, that love to play golf. I didn’t really create user personas in this project as I wasn’t planning on actually testing my prototype.

Research/Analyze/Brainstorm

For this step I looked at other golf and sports websites to get an idea on how others have laid out there information. This gave me some good ideas for how to layout my Course Grid that was stated in the requirements. I also knew I wanted it to be simple but attractive to the users.

Wireframing and Prototyping

I started off on paper with this prototype, just simply getting my layout so I knew I had all the requirements and it was organized. I then created a simple prototype or interface of the final look of the website using Figma.
