Web/UX Projects

Weber State University Computer Literacy Center

I created this website for Weber State's Computer Literacy Center. The Computer Literacy Center (CLC) is a testing center as well as a place for students to learn important computer programs and computer basics. The CLC is working on creating online instructional videos, teaching students these computer programs and basics. This project overview doesn't contain a prototype because of how fast they needed it up and working. The final website is recorded in the video below.

My Process

Gather Information/Define Purpose

To better understand the purpose of this website which was to be integrated into Weber State's website, I had to gather information as to what Weber State's guidelines are. They had a specific color palette, branding guidelines, and are very strict on using particular web accessibility practices. I also knew that this site would have to be created using Weber States CMS. This was important to know because it limited what I was allowed to do on my pages.

The other part of my gathering was understanding what the CLC wanted the website to do. From meeting with stakeholders I gathered information pertaining to the purpose of this site, which was to provide a place for users to quickly find information about the Computer Literacy Center and get information about what modules were offered in their online instructional courses.

Research/Analyze/Brainstorm

The research done in this phase of the project was to determine the best way to lay out all the necessary information for the website so that it would be easy to navigate and make sense to the users. I researched what other schools did in this department as well as other websites that had similar content. My goal was to make the pages as simple to read as possible so users could quickly scan and find the information they were looking for.

Wireframing and Prototyping

A full prototype of this site was not created due to the timetable they needed the site up and working. I layed out the parts of the modules section of the site to get the main concept of what I was creating, but overall there was not a full prototype.
